''If We Fall in Love Tonight'' is a ballad album released by Rod Stewart on 1 November 1996 (see 1996 in music). It includes mostly previously released songs. The album was released in both the US and UK, though the versions differ slightly. It was released by Warner Bros. Records following the release of a similar ballads album by Madonna called ''Something to Remember''. It produced the singles "If We Fall in Love Tonight" and "When I Need You". ==Album information== ''If We Fall in Love Tonight'' contains two tracks, the title track and "For the First Time", which were written for the album. "For the First Time" was added in May 2015 as an additional track. This track was written by Phillippe Dittberner and Fiona Davies. There were some legal wrangles regarding this track , the copyright and the track title which have now been resolved. The album also includes two newly recorded cover versions of hit songs. "Sometimes When We Touch," originally sung by Dan Hill, was first released on this album, as was "When I Need You," originally sung by Leo Sayer. Two more of the songs had not been previously released on a Rod Stewart album. "So Far Away", by Carole King, had been released as a single in 1995, having appeared on that year's Carole King tribute album, ''Tapestry Revisited'', while "All for Love," sung with Bryan Adams and Sting is from the 1993 film ''The Three Musketeers'' and had been released on its soundtrack. Additionally, two songs were remade for ''If We Fall in Love Tonight''. "Have I Told You Lately" by Van Morrison, which was originally released on ''Vagabond Heart'' was remixed, while "Forever Young", originally on ''Out of Order'', was completely re-recorded. The remaining tracks had all been previously released on Rod Stewart albums.
